The Team and Leadership Center (TLC) is an outreach of Montreat College to not for-profit and for-profit organizations, schools, churches and individuals (including people with differing levels of physical abilities). It is the opportunity to explore who you are and who you work with through activity and discussion. It is the opportunity to enjoy working from your strengths and letting others work from theirs. Its programs explore and strengthen bonds between team members. In essence it is about increasing understanding and enhancing human relationships through fun activities. It explores the strengths you bring to a team, appreciating the strengths of others.

Mission

The Team and Leadership Center exists to help groups develop leaders and build stronger community within their context through experience-based learning.

Goals

  • Create courageous leadership
  • Build nurturing communities
  • Inspire innovative processes

Philosophy

TLC programs combine activities and discussions. You have heard it said that experience is the best teacher; it speaks louder and stays with us longer than lecture alone. But we believe that evaluated experience is the best teacher! For an experience to take hold, we must take time to reflect on an experience and apply the lessons learned. Activities are chosen to meet the group where they are mentally and physically. The point is not the activity, but the discussion and lessons learned through reflection on the groups’ interaction during the activity.
